So Will I

So Will I

Today on Worship Wednesdays, this post was inspired by Hillsong’s  ‘So will I’

I can see your heart in everything you’ve made

Have you ever taken time to appreciate and take in your surroundings? The beautiful sky, the earthy green grass and so much more amazing things that reside within nature. Even if you are not someone who recognises the greatness of nature. Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror? Have you ever looked at the lines on the palm of your hands? Have you ever been able to count the amount of individual hairs you have on your head, your eyebrows and eyelashes? Have you ever really, really understood that you are unique? There is absolutely nobody on this earth who looks exactly like you, even if you have a twin there is something that is different between you and your twin. If the fact that God carefully and intentionally created you and considered every small detail isn’t love, I don’t know what love is.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
I know that full well”.   – Psalm 139:14

God of Your promise
You don’t speak in vain
No syllable empty or void

This part of the song is reassuring because it reinforces the fact that whatever God has promised us will come to pass. The fact that it hasn’t physically manifested now does not mean it never will. We just need to be patient, hopeful and expectant. In addition to this, we are reminded that God doesn’t speak for the sake of it not even a “syllable” is wasted. So why do we doubt him? If even his words hold power and authority, why do we underestimate what he can physically do? We need to start recognising that God is a promise keeping God, and he doesn’t have to please us. He doesn’t have to pretend he can or will do something when he can’t or won’t. So lets just trust and obey God. Because he will do exactly what he said he will do.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”  – Jeremiah 29:11

God of salvation
You chased down my heart
Through all of my failure and pride

Wow, these lyrics produce a summary of the grace of God which is essentially unmerited favour. How is it that God is chasing us, when he is what we need? How is it that such a blameless and perfect God is willing to run after us and sacrifice his only son even though we are sinful beings?

These lyrics serve as a reminder of how much God loves us. But it also demonstrates the fact that God doesn’t condemn us. Yes, we have made mistakes, we have done some bad things, we have failed and we have let pride control us. However, God doesn’t expect us to judge ourselves. He wants us to change. He wants us to accept the invitation he gave us through salvation, to be granted a second chance as well as the gift of eternal life. Don’t let your past mistakes rob you of what God desperately wants to give and show you, this is his unconditional love and unmerited favour.

And as You speak
A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life so I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You so will I

This is so powerful, through the words of Christ all of our failures disappear. And a hundred billon failures could possibly be for each individual. However, even though God could have wiped away our sins through just uttering a word, he still sacrificed his life in order for it to truly be finished and erased. And once Jesus was sacrificed, killed and dead. He then resurrected, overcame the grave and left it behind. Are you still living in the grave? Are you still dwelling on past sins? Are you sabotaging your present and future because of what you did in the past? If you are, that has to stop today.

You’re the One who never leaves the one behind

God values each and every one of us. He cares about your needs and worries. He loves you enough to leave the 99 just to find you. Don’t ever think that you are not good enough for God’s love. Because he doesn’t think that. He loves you even when you don’t love him back. He loves you even when you forget about him. God loves YOU. And he is the only one who knows you for you, with all your flaws and perks. So stop running away from him, and start chasing after him like he is chasing after you.

If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I

In response to what this post has already stated, it shouldn’t be hard for us to now worship, revere, roar, lift high, obey and cry out to God. Because when we remember the love that God has for us, the authority that he carries and the beauty of everything he creates, that is all we can really do. All we can really do is appreciate God for who he is, because he deserves it.

After reading this, are you going to say so will I? What does so will I mean to you? Does it mean you need to start worshipping God more, and not just at church but in your day to day endeavours? Do you need to revere God more? Do you take his love for granted and forget to give him the respect that he deserves? Does so will I  mean that you need to fulfil your purpose and lift God high despite what you are going through? Whatever so will I means to you, lets start from today.

Note to self and note to you.

Stay blessed and stay tuned,
